How to use a French Butter Dish
A French butter dish keeps butter fresh and spreadable without refrigeration.
- Fill the base with cold water (about 1โ2 cm). Tip: Use salted water for best results, especially in warmer rooms.
- Press softened butter firmly into the lid. Remove any air pockets.
- Place the lid upside down into the base so the butter is sealed by the water. The rim of the inner container must be covered by the water.
- Store at room temperature, away from direct heat or sunlight.
- Change the water every 2โ3 days to keep the butter fresh.
- If you follow all the above steps, the butter can keep fresh up to 4 weeks without a fridge.
